SAFIA Circular Fashion Initiative (CFI)
What is the SAFIA Circular Fashion Initiative (CFI)?
The Circular Fashion Initiative (CFI) is a landmark sustainability program developed by the South Australian Fashion Industry Association (SAFIA), with the support of Green Industries SA. Funded through the LEAP Grant Program, this multi-stage initiative guides South Australian fashion and textile businesses towards a circular, ethical, and environmentally responsible future.
Spanning two years, the CFI offers a dynamic blend of expert-led masterclasses, tailored in-house workshops, personalised consulting, and practical toolkits, each crafted to support businesses of varying sizes and stages in their sustainability journey. From circular design and ethical sourcing to supply chain mapping and fibre sustainability, the program equips participants with the insight and infrastructure to embed long-term, impactful change.
CFI Launch & Masterclass Series
The Circular Fashion Initiative officially commenced with an evening launch event on Tuesday 29 July 2025 at the UniSA Innovation and Collaboration Centre (ICC). This inaugural gathering set the tone for a transformative two-year journey, bringing together fashion leaders, sustainability experts, and industry stakeholders to explore the future of circular fashion in South Australia. The evening featured keynote presentations, networking, and a preview of the tools and opportunities that define the CFI program.
Following the launch, the CFI Masterclass Series unfolds as a cornerstone of the initiative, offering in-depth, expert-led sessions tailored to fashion businesses ready to integrate sustainability into their DNA.
