SAFIA has been formed to provide a representative voice for anyone involved in the production, design and manufacturing of apparel in South Australia. This includes textiles, fashion, clothing, lingerie, sportwear, uniforms, footwear and accessories. According to Deloitte, the industry contributes $218 million to the state’s economy, excluding retail.  

Membership is also open to those operating in fashion related industries such as fashion stylists, modelling agencies and fashion photographers. 

Representing all sectors of the fashion industry, the organisation’s charter is to advocate for opportunities and promote the growth of the industry. One of its first priorities is to help address the current skills shortage and training requirements. 

For the first time, people and businesses working in the sector will have the opportunity to be represented to governments and others with a strong voice that reflects the interests and concerns of its members.
